Microsoft Edge has introduced an interesting productivity-oriented feature called ‘Drop’ to enable users to store and share files across devices and platforms.
Drop is a cross-platform space for storing various content which allows you to drag and drop any files, texts, pictures, and attachments by typing them into a message box. Once synced, the items in Drop will be available in Edge on your other logged-in devices including mobile. This new feature spotted is currently being tested and is expected to work basically like a messaging service.
The Drop seems to be part of a controlled feature rollout and not everyone can test it at present on the latest release. It is only available to Microsoft Edge Insiders that run the latest version available in the Canary channel. The testers who are able to use the feature can enable the feature in Edge’s Settings > Appearance. Currently, the feature might not be visible even if you’re in the Canary channel. However, users can only send messages to themselves in this scenario.
Microsoft is always working on new features for Edge. Recently, Microsoft partnered with CloudFlare to offer a built-in VPN service that encrypts your data as you browse the internet. At its Build event, Microsoft announced that it’s making the PWA experience on Edge better so web apps feel more like native apps.
